The tectonic framework of southern variscan belt: correlation of the sardinia-corsica microplate with the variscan segments in NE Spain

The main objective of this project is to increase the understanding of the geodynamic evolution of the Variscan belt, in particular its south-European domain outcropping in the Western Mediterranean region as isolated blocks or segments. A problem for the different segments is that were translated, rotated and partly deformed due to post-Variscan tectonic events. Rather clear Paleozoic tectonic reconstructuins have been made involving the Iberian massif in West Spain, Western and Central French massifs, Bohemian massif, etc...
