The reception of Italian theatre in Spain needs more comprehensive and in-depth research in order to determine with broader exactitude its influence on Spanish theatre of the 16th and 17th centuries. It was at that time that modern theatre was created thanks to the different Italian experiences which lead both to the professionalisation of theatre and to the building of theatre houses. More effort is needed to document and analyse each component of dramatic writing and performance in general to establish the interaction between Italian and Spanish theatre. This is mainly done by studying the visits to the Peninsula of many teatrantes and Italian theatre technicians. In parallel fashion, the presence of Spanish playwrights in Italian courts and the influence of Spanish theatre on Italian theatre should be investigated in more detail, for example as regards the creation of the character of the captain, the representation of Spanishness in comedy etc... the purpose being to fix the ways in which mutual influence circulates. The study of all these aspects will provide an exact account of the dialogue between both cultures at a historically decisive moment for the future of theatre, in which political and social contacts between both realities wee very intense
