The analysis of the socio-economic transformation generated by the origins of farming and herding has in the Near East a better frame of reference than in other parts of the world, because it was in this region where the socio-economic transformation originated first from internal evolution. The Eufrates bassin is the area in the Near East where this study can be better undergone, because of the amount archeological evidences. Our research project in Tell halula site (Eufrates valley, Syria) has discovered a human settlement oxxupied from 8700 BP to 6400 BP, what allows a complete study of this process. It is one of the very few sites shere historical conclusions may be drawn, given the quantity and quality of preserved data. The main goal of this research project is the application of analytical procedures to ardhaeological data, and the processing of their results in order to obtain a comprehensive explanation of this historical "Revolution". Emphasis is placed on the study of the environment, together with the economy, technology and social organization, always from a diachronic perspective and within a regional frame of reference.
