Project Details
Description
The objective of this project is the archaeological study of complex medieval hydraulic systems located in different areas of the Iberian Peninsula and the Balearic Islands (Albacete, Jaén, Castelló, Mallorca, Barcelona and Girona). The technical expertise of the research team guarantees, we believe, to attain the main objectives of the project, namely: the study of specific irrigation systems and how they are related to the societies that produce them and to deepen our knowledge of the difference between "oriental" (Islamic) and "Western" (feudal) hydraulic traditions.
The implacable degradation, with each year that passes, destroying the ancient and medieval irrigation systems indicates that research must be carried out as quickly as possible before its definitive and irreversible ruin
