Sistemes dinàmics definits per equacions en derivades parcials

Project Details

Description

The project belongs to the field of partial differential equations, with special emphasis in the point of view of the theory of dissipative infinite-dimensional dynamical systems. Indeed, many initial-boundary value problems for partial differential equations can be interpreted as generating dynamical systems on suitable function spaces. This allows to combine the analytical methods used in the study of partial differential equations together with the qualitative methods characteristic of the theory of dynamical systems, so as to obtain results which give significant information on the solutions of those problems. The project aims at contributing to the development of this approach through its application to several particular cases of interest, as well as exploring some questions of general nature (like for instance an extension of the theory of attracting manifolds).
