Project Details

Description

The aim of this project is the study of the statigraphy, facies and organic activity of the middle Eocene and a large part of the upper Eocene of the Jaca basin (south central Pyrenean foreland basin, north Aragón, Spain). The subject to deal comprises turbidite sediments of the Banastón and Jaca complexes, and deltaic sediments of the Sabiñánigo sandstones and Atarés delta. In the turbidite facies, it will be established a more detailed stratigraphy than the previous ones, based on the observations of new unconformities at different scales. Detailed sedimentological studies will be done in order to provide a more complete turbiditic pattern than the actual one. We will also postulate new models (two at least, according to previous hipotesis). Facies will be linked up to a single paleogeographic moment and when possible, to the telated shelfs.
