Red InnoNews, seeks to jointly promote the subjects and projects worked by research group Gabinete de Comunicación y Educación, of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB); the research group I.T.A.C.A of the Jaume I University (UJI); the research group Novos Medios of the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC); and the research group Theory and Communication Technology of the University of Seville (US). In addition to those research groups, the coordinator of the Red InnoNews is the principal investigator of the RTVE-UAB Chair on news innovation in the digital society and the UNESCO Spanish Chair on Media and Information Literacy for Trusted Media and Quality Journalism. The project aims to create a common space for the study of innovation processes in news media in the digital society by systematically analysing the contributions that technologies, new formats, new narratives and current consumption trends have made to this fast-moving scenario. Red InnoNews intends to develop a coherent theoretical framework to serve as a roadmap for the study of processes affecting the current structure of media players and the management of information. It also seeks to provide a comprehensive view of the phenomenon in order to define study variables and typologies. Red InnoNews would like to create and support R&D possibilities involving major industry players in order to generate accurate diagnostics and outcomes with greater impact in terms of future developments. It aims to generate practical applications and to influence/guide processes of change, programs and policies of governments, European and international institutions, public and private broadcasters, publishers and news producers. The network will seek to establish itself as an international reference able to promote cooperation and synergies among researchers, educational world, media industry and the market
