Project Details
Description
Preparations are under way for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. This unique
international sporting event will create a wide range of employment
opportunities, many of which call for new skills. However, the initial vocational
training system in Greece has been slow to respond to market needs. The leaders
of this innovative project aim to use the opportunity of the Olympic Games to
introduce a new quality dimension in the vocational training system and develop
model training programmes for under-qualified young people. The partners will
first identify occupational profiles and training needs directly related to the
organisation of a major international sporting event such as the Olympic Games.
Focusing initially on one selected occupational profile, a specific training
programme and module will be developed, including provision for the
accreditation of the skills acquired. Following pilot implementation of the
training module, the studies and training material will be published in the three
languages of the project partners.Impact The project will enhance the quality of
design and content of initial training systems and support the integration of
young people in the labour market.
