Project Details
Description
The aim of this research project is to integrate a number of contributions both at the theoretical and at empirical level, with the purpose of gaining a more precise insight of the determinants of the productivity and competitiveness of manufacturing firms in Spain. The two broad categories of elements which will be integrated are:1) the empirical analysis of those aspects related to the organizational design of manufacturing firms (technology adoption and flexible systems, human resource practices, innivation in labor organization and cooperation processes). 2) A number of theoretical proposals developed from previous work by members of the research group, in the area of productivity measurement and its implications for firm costs and profits. The latter research is complemented by a new line of research on the concept od business risk. To put this integrated view into practice, we propose to prepare a database at the firm level which contains financial, organizational design and technology information
