Paleoclimatic and dynamic reconstruction of the human settlement and of land use in middle Aguas (Almería) in the south-east of the Iberian peninsula

a) To establish the variation and magnitude of palaeoclimatic conditions manifest in cultural and natural contexts in the area of the middle Aguas between 4000 BC and 800 BC. This represents a more particular focus within a longer term framework comprising Middle Holocene till present day which will provide a wider basis for qualitative comparisons; b) to evaluate existing models on human-ecological interaction and their relationship to disturbance, stability and resistence in the evolution of social/natural systems; c) to construct a Geographical Information System (GIS) for the middle Aguas area in the Vera Basin, so as to provide a framework within which environmental data (geology, edaphology, vegetation) and archaeological data (settlement patterns, exploited ressources, trends in artefactual production) can be combined to generate an understanding of long-term dynamics and to use a
