Project Details
Description
The aim of the project is to undertake out a gender-aware comparative study of a number of urban planning operations that have been carried out in the last fifteen years in several Catalan cities of different sizes. In particular the study will focus, at different scales, on rehabilitation projects of urban spaces intended to reduce marginalitation and socio-spatial exclusion.
On the one hand, the concepts and strategies that are behind such operations will be analysed, as well as, on the other hand, the characteristics and the effective impact of such measures on social and gender-based exclusion. The research will focus on four types of decisions: requalification of public spaces, public transportation, housing and social and functional complexity.
The methodology of the project will give priority to a qualitative approach and will include questionnaires, informative interviews, in-depth interviews and direct and participant observation.
