We propose the installation of a pulsed field gradient accessory on a 400 MHz NMR spectrometer at the NMR Service of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. After an initial period devoted to implementation of several recently (1990-92) published gradient enhanced techniques, we propose their extension to sequences previously developed by our research group, such as HETNOE, SINEPT and SDEPT, as well as to other new sequences eventually used insolution for the structural determination of systems of ever-increasing complexity. It is hoped that the main advantage of gradient-enhanced techniques, i.e., time saving, will be achieved without sacrificing neither the spectroscopic accuracy nor the quality of the ensuing structural assignment. Partial funding is already available for the purchase of the high-power (100 gauss/cm) accessory.
