A grave social problem in Europe at the end of this century is racial conflicts. One of the main threats to the intercultural coexistence in Europe is xenophobia. Surveys and information about attempts to the ethnic minorities are good evidence of the virulence of this social phenomenon. The elite press as informant and manager of these conflicts has an important role. In our research the image of ethnic minorities image in those massmedia will be made clear, and it will also state how the racial conflicts are treated journalisticly. In the same way, given the function of the elite press in the establishment of the political agenda, it will be analised how they manage the conflicts. Finally, in line with the results obtained and in accordance with the action-research postulates, a policy of communication that will promote the intercultural coexistence will be established.
