Memòries i diaris personals de la Catalunya moderna

Project Details

Description

This research project has two specific aims. First, to compile a corpus of diaries and personal memoirs written in Catalonia during the sixteenth, seventeenth and eighteenth centuries by producing annotated editions and introductory studies on their authors and the historical context in which these records were written. Second, to study the origins of these documents, their diachronic development, and the motivations that led their authors to undertake "the adventure of writing". Our findings will be contrasted with those of other historiographical studies. This project is in full accordance with the reassessment of autobiographies, diaries and personal memoirs as a source for historical research which uses the results of individual creativity to enrich structural historical analysis.
