Mechanism of automatic comparison of CD-ROM answers with OPACs / MECANO

The project intends to give the end-user the possibility to automatically associate the results of a search action in a database containing bibliographic information like journal content information, for example a database on CD-ROM, with holding information in the local library catalogue. In other words: MECANO provides an integrated search in environment instead of isolated databases. The main result will be a prototype of a general user interface for combining search results of different CD-ROMs with different OPACs. During the project, pilot experiments will be set up for a number of widely used CD-ROMs and library systems in Europe.
