    Description

This research focus the analysis of how mass media produce and trasmit gender stereotypes especially in daily newspapers. We think that newspapers do not reproduce the actual women's situation. Mass media propose already the traditional image of women: male in the public sphere, women in the private one. This situation affects negativily to men and women, who don't recognize themselves, nor the changes that have occurred in our society. We want to observe directly how newspapers work and the routines they use everyday. We will observe one information agency (EFE) and three daily newspapers of Barcelona and one located in Madrid. Our investigation will propose some recommendations to apply practically in newspapers, in order to eliminate the traditional stereotypes that make women don`t exist in newspapers pages. We propose, too, to follow these newspapers in the future, and we want to observe if they introduce or not the changes we have proposed.
