As a consequence of the special material structure, nanophase and nanocomposite materials present noticeable changes in the mechanical, electromagnetic and optical properties compared to those of glasses and/or crystalline materials of the same composition. In this proposal, it is intended at first, to synthesize nanocrystalline materials by mechanical alloying/milling or by controled crystallization from amorphous alloys, and produce nanogranular materials by recrystallization of metastable structures. On the other hand, a structural, thermal, magnetic and mechanical characterization will be performed. Special stress will be put in the design of heat treatments suitable to obtain the optimum magnetic and mechanical properties.
