L'art a Catalunya entre 1875 i 1936. Fonts, models i teoria. El debat entre tradició i modernitat

Between 1875 and 1936 an artistic and literary boom took place in Catalonia, where different iniciatives flowed, always following the principle idea of modernity and progress. The crisis statement corresponding to the turn-of-the-century which produced personalities of the relevance of Gaudí, Rusiñol ran parallel to more radical expressions of modernity, such as Nonell or Picasso and fowed into a period full of contradictions reaching the Civil War years. This research project intends to study how the artistic avantgarde was received in Barcelona and also how such avant-garde movement coexisted with other projects wich based modernity on authocthonous tradition. As a methodological basis for our study, we consider it essential to unify the criteria of research being made at diferent Catalan Universities. For such purpose, it is also necessary that basic research materials and the organization of a data center entail both data reference systemation and the working-out of the basis for theoretical reasonings.
