Project Details
Description
This study aims to analyse the present and future evolution of golf -a sport which is rapidly gaining in popularity-in Catalonia: Bearing in mind that golf is already an important recreational activity in many countries, and that its promotion in other Spanish regions has helped to stimulate tourism, it would seem to be an opportune moment to study its evolution here. The main objectives of the project are to evaluate:
1) physical impacts (on land use and water consumption)
2) implications for new patters of urban expansion and second home distributions
3) repercussions on the internal tourism sector (as such developments may lead to a diversification of supply, renewed demand from higher income groups and reduction of seasonality in Catalan tourism)
