Project Details
Description
The function of the epididymal duct and the maturation of the epididymal sperm from health and sexually mature boars, will be studied. The morphology and the secretory process of the epididymis will be studied by histological, histochemical, ultrastrucutral and cytochemical procedures. The epididymal sperm will be compared at each one of its three regions (head, body and tail): sperm concentration, sperm agglutination, osmotic reisistence of acrosomes, development od sperm abnormalities and ultrastructural changes od the epididymal sperm will be examinated. The epididymal fluid will be analysed at each one of the three epididymal regions : pH, osmolarity, and L- carnitine, a-glucosidase and glicerophosphorilcoline concentration will be evaluated. The results obtained at each one of the epididymal regions will be statiscally analysed
