Description

This research deals with the presence of legal doctrines and thinkers in both western legal cultures (civil law and common law) as means of an international exchange movement (19th-20th centuries). The following aspects are underlined: a) analysis of reception processes (i.e. European codes as pattern for the American codification movement; American experience on uniform laws and its intellectual presence in Europe); b) case studies of some relevant figures in the international network of scientific contacts (i.e. European legal thinkers as visiting professors in American universities; American presence on European Festschriften); c) some preliminary work to establish a catalog of legal translations, especially into Spanish.
