Description
This research project intends to study in depth the inquisitional tribunals of the Crown of Aragon during the seventeenth and eighteenth century up to their demise. The general objective is to continue the work which our researchers have already undertaken on the tribunals of the Inquisition in the sixteenth century. Using Monter's work as our point of reference, we intend to bring together the tribunals of the Secretariat of Aragon in order to analyse the relatively unexplored period of the decadence of the Holy Office. To be more precise, this study aims to collate prosopography of the inquisitors, officials and dependents in order to be able to reflect, through analysis of notarial protocol, the true nature of inquisitional power as well as examine the various jurisdictional cases, which in turn will allow us to understand more fully the controversy surrounding inquisitional jurisdict
