Description
The use of cutt-based microelectrodes realized with massives fabrication technologies shows a wide range og higher performance related to the reproducibility, sensibility, reliability, resolution, life time, selectivity and cost, rebounding to its aplication on any type of nerver fiber. In the present project the main objetive is the development of a new technology derived from the MCM interconection microelectronic tehnology in order to obtain an array cuff-based flexible microelectrodes with higher perfomances than the reported literature.It is obvious that the development of flexible microelectrodes, together with surface modificatiion tecniques (electrochemical platinization) can simplify the neuroprothesi due to the ability on diminishing the associated impedance of the microelectrode-electrolite (surround the nerve) interface, that, in short, and due to minor electrical restrictions less complex circuit can be designed. Finally, one of the most important challenge of the present project is the decelopment of a recording circuitry able to obtain signals so lower than 5 uV in a contaminated ambient for signals showing higher ampliteds and lightly lower frecuencies. To obtain the desired objectives is indispensable to get ready an array of microelectrodes with a high variaety of geometries in order to ecaluate the importance degree of each parameter of the microelectrode-fiber interface. The whole of researches of the project are thinking on the necessary creation of a multidisciplianrity (microelectronic technology, electronic instrumentation, biomedical-electrochemical-electrical characterization)team in order to achieve the set the ambicious goals such as the presented in this projects.
