Project Details

Description

The final objective of this project is to bidirectionally interact with the peripheral nervous system through an integrated circuit to be implanted between the edges of a cut or injured peripheral nerve. These neuroprotesis or neuronal chips are integrated circuits which are multipierced in order to get the axons cross through the microholes while regenerating. To reach this goal partialt asks have to be carried out: 1) to study the compatibility of the different materials used in the IC fabrication and the feasibility of the axonal regeneration through the interposed perforated silicon plates; 2) to incorporate to these plates active circuits that allow the communication with the axons; 3) to develop the hardware and software suitable for the neuronal signal processing (emission and reception).
