This project focuses on the study of the enchancement of animal cell culture in bioreactors for the obtention of proteins of interest, usually for diagnostic and therapeutical applications. Specifically, this proposal is based on the study of the production of monoclonal antibodies using hybridoma cells. From the knowledge previously gathered on the metavolism and phisiology of these cells, a series of actuations, either for the modification of the properties of the cells themselves (metabolic engineering) as for the design and control of the conditions for the culture (process engineering) are proposed, in such a way that the integration of the advances obtained in both areas should allow a global optimization of the production system.
