Project Details
Description
CORALIVE is a pilot project carried out by linguists and scholars in language didactics and a company specialized in computer science. It aims to create a digital tool capable of assessing a user's Oral Comprehension (OC) of audio-visual documents of various genres, analysing errors and difficulties through monitored feedback and proposing reinforcement activities. Thus, the digital tool responds to the need to implement a formative diagnostic assessment that does not yet exist.
CORALIVE will create three interactive L2 CO modules in three Romance languages (French, Italian, Spanish), for two types of audiences (students and adults studying an additional language and migrants learning L2 on site), with different documents (from announcements to academic lectures with variation in style and accent). The dialogue between linguists and scholars in language didactics and computer scientists will allow innovative solutions to be devised.
This innovative platform-based tool will have an impact on the quality of CO learning, which is crucial for communication and exchanges. It will be proposed for four years in various learning contexts (universities, language schools, associations). It will be extended to other non-European countries that speak Romance languages and will be redesigned in the following two years for other Romance languages (Portuguese, Romanian) in order to benefit Intercomprehension between related languages.
