Decreasing the impact of distance in the exchange of material and immaterial flows inside the economic activity network is leading to changes in business structure. It intensifies the transformation of industrial and service locational models, and reoganizes the position of global regions in the center-periphery model. These quantitative changes are so profound that they become qualitative. The speed of information transmission, which is so much faster than before, now has the power to reshape companies, create corporations, eliminate geography and revitalize the art of written communication. Together, these processes bring qualitative change. This project tries to determine and analyze the changes in enterprise networks, in production, retailing, supply and distribution channels, as well as other ambits of commerce, and their effects on the space brought on by the introduction of information technology (IT) and Internet. The aim of this project is to bring forward information on the new economy's capability to increase regional growth. IT and Internet diminish the economic consequences of geographical distance virtually to zero. They have opened opportunities for global business on scale that would previously have been impossible.
This project has the following objectives:1) to identify the competitive determinants od economic activity location; 2) to study the new structure of the "flat" firm, most of this following distribution networls: business-to business (B2B), business-to-consumer (B2C), and business-to-people (b2me)
