Description
Following the research developed by our group on the study of several genotoxicity assays and on their ability to detect different kinds of genetic damage, the present project plans : 1) "Drosophila melanogaster" strains bearing transposable elements inserted in the "locus white", will be heat-shock treated to induce revertant phenotypes and to characterize them at molecular level in order to explain the nature of the induced mutagenic events; 2) to identify and characterize "Drosophila melanogaster" mismatch repair deficient mutants using the AP-PCR method; 3) biomonitoring of a population of patients with thyroid cancer of hyperthyroidism treated with "131-I", by analysing the different types of genetic damage induced in their peripheral blood lymphocytes, using both classic cytogenetic and "in situ" hybridization techniques; and 4) to evaluate the microgel electroforesis assay ("Comet
