Project Details
Description
The first 3-year-fase of the project of the bryophyte flora of the Iberian Peninsula is now comming to the end. During this time a chorologic data base, a bibliographic data base and the model genus have been done. The folloring period of another three years shall be used to investigate and edit the following taxonomic groups of mosses: Sphagnales, Andreaeales, Polytrichales, Tetraphidales, Buxbaumiales, and Portiales. The configuration of the volumes of these groups and the distribution of the activities among the subprojects with respect to the revisions is explained in the corresponding paragraphs of this proposal. Besides the taxonomical work with classical methods, innovative approaches as anatomical cytology and molecular biology will be used. Furthermore it is proposed to continue with the prospection of all the Iberian Peninsula in order to complete the knowledge of various territories that are lithe known concerning their bryophyte flora.
