Project Details

From historical, literary and artistic paradigmes, thei project intents to continue analysing the way different images of women have been constructed during the period of modernity and the impact that these lore had in cultural movements since the turn of the century. The research departs from the Hispanic world to establish parallelisms with the European Cultures in order to show not only the resemblances and connexions withim Western discourse but, above all, the way in which this discoruse has effects in our country as well as shed light on the peculiarities of Spanish cultures. In order to do this we differenciate between two study lines:a) The study of female stereotypes, hardly studied in our country, that can be noticed also in European literatures:from the donna angelicata to femme fatale and their derivations (the mother, the virgin, the prostitute...) as well as these female figures hardly ever considered such as the virago, the traveller, the feminist, the mestiza.. b) Literary (or artistic) genres that are related to women autobiographies, whose audiences are private:letter, travel writings, personal diaries, memoires, among others.
