This project is devoted to the study of non-linear phenomena in dynamic optical systems (bistable devices). The objectives are oriented towards both fundamental aspects and potencial applications. Concerning dynamical inestabilities the project includes the investigation of gluing bifurcations, heteroclinic connections and cycles, and the dynamic of systems with effective dimension equal to four. Concerning with devices, the program covers the study of a laser cavity with a non-linear mirror and the possibility of obtaining self-stabilisation in the output power, the design and fabrication of non-symmetric mirrors based on dielectric/metal multilayers, to be used in the non-linear cavities, and the development of an optical flip-flop structure previously demostrated.
