Project Details
Description
The goal of this project is to estend the participation of the Institute of High Energy Physics of Barcelona (IFAE) in the ALEPH experiment, to the LEP-II phase of the LEP accelerator. The main lines of activity of the IFAE within ALEPH proposed here are the construction of a new veryu forward calorimeter, named BCAL++, with the dual goal of measuring the one-line luminosity and tagging two-photon induced events, and the pursuing of various physics analysis, both of the data already taken at the LEP-I and of those which will be obtained at LEP-II. Most of these activities are not entirely new, but are based on a past and current work being done in ALEPH. In particular, BCAL++, although a new detector, relies heavily in our experience with constructing and operating the present BCAL monitor, a great part of wich is re-used. Several analysis of the present data are on progress and for the new data have been prepared in detail. Some of these preparation have been published in preprint form and will be a part of a forthcoming "Yellow Report" of CERN.
