Estudi d'incidència de trastorns d'ansietat i dos síndromes àlgics en una cohort amb i sense factor de risc (laxitud articular)

In the last decade several case control studies have been published about a highly positive association between hypermobility of joints (heritable condition of the connective tissue) and anxiety disorders. Odds ratio obtained have been over 10. However no prospective study has been carried out so far, assessing the joint hypermobility as a risk factor. On the other hand there is also some evidence that these patients also suffer from fibromyalgia, irritable bowel disorder and headache/migraine. Objective: to assess, in a controlled way, a population with the risk factor (joint hypermobility) ten years after, and thus obtain incidence values of anxiety disorder and also other somatic pain conditions among subjects with and without the risk factor (joint hypermobility). Method: Cohort study in a rural sample fully studied ten years ago, including all subjects between 16 and 20 years old. Outcome assessment of this sample will lead to the incidence (new cases) figures of anxiety disorders and also the incidence figures of the pain conditions incidence figures, among subjects with and without the risk factor. As for the first aim, only subject free of anxiety condition at the inception point, are allowed whereas for the second aim (pain syndromes) all subjects will be included. This study is unique in its contribution to the validation of a prospective biologic risk factor for psychiatric conditions
