In view of the absence of research about immigrant businesses in Spain and the considerable expanding of this kind of private enterprises in certain neighborhoods of the metropolitan areas, as Madrid and Barcelona, in the last years, this research wants to study immigrant businesses in Spain. The research focus, on the one hand, on the structure of supply and the the characteristics of immigrants who establish their own businesses and their employees; and on the other hand, on the institutional, social and economical context of receiving society that influences starting and operating a business. The research wants to compare immigrant businesses in Madrid and Barcelona. The field work involves depth interviews to immigrant owners and to immigrant employees who work in immigrant businesses
