This project aims to investigate the scientific policies implemented in Spain in the period from 1939 to 1975 through the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC). Through most of this period, the CSIC was the main institution financing scientific and scholarly research in Spain, and it has kept a key role in the scientific life of the country ever after. Neverthless, its structure, actual working, and finances have received so far little attention. The main primary sources to be used are the archives of the Presidency and General Secretary of the CSIC, the archives of the Comisión Asesora para la Investigación Científica y Técnica (CAICYT), and the documentation kept at some of the most important Institutes and Departaments within the CSIC.
