The Master on Education Policies for Global Development (GLOBED) aims to construct an attractive master for students who are either currently working in this field or aim to do so. GLOBED constitutes a solid and homogeneous training in the area of educational development research and international cooperation activities. It has the objective to produce a European know-how on education policies for development that potentially can benefit researchers and technical staff working in international aid agencies, governmental bodies, civil society organizations or consultancy firms operating in developed or developing countries. GLOBED is a joint master's degree awarded by four European universities: Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (Spain), the University of Glasgow (United Kingdom), the University of Bremen (Germany) and the University of Cyprus (Cyprus). The project also includes a large number of associate partners (international organizations, (I)NGOs, aid and development agencies, universities and research centres) that collaborate with GLOBED in different ways, in particular by providing opportunities for internships during the second year of the master. The JMD is structured into a set of core and elective courses, with a view to providing a solid theoretical foundation in the area, as well as the possibility for developing extended specialist knowledge and skills. Students spend the first semester together in Barcelona (UAB) and are able to choose electives in the second semester in Bremen (UB) or Glasgow (UoG). During the second year, they advance their professional development by doing internships in associate partners¿ institutions (mainly in developing countries), and carry out the necessary fieldwork to develop their research projects and write their master's theses. In between the process of collecting data and writing the thesis, the Consortia organizes a Back from Fieldwork - Winter School at the University of Cyprus.
