Mental deficiency is a developmental disorder characterized by a significantly subaverage general intellectual functioning accompanied by significant deficits or impairments in adaptive behaviour. The emphasis on explicit intervention, whether for educational or training purposes, has brought the need for usable and technically acceptable assessment instruments. In recent years, a plethora of tests and assessment of the whole range of psychopathological disorders that mentally handicapped children may present, which are a big trouble in order to their social integration. Our team is nowadays working on the adaptation of Feinstein's Emotional Disorder Rating Scale for Developmental Disabilities, EDRS-DD. Our future directions are centrated in the design of new treatment strategies of intervention based in our data about assessment procedures
