Description
For an optimal biological wastewater treatment, it is necessary to take care of two key aspects: a rational design and a strict control. Every new regulation makes obsolete plants which, at the time of construction, were up to the highest standard. With the experience acquired during past projects, the proposal goals are the use of different control techniques (predictive, fuzzy) for the activated sludge process, including the nitrification/denitrification process, as well as the anaerobic process control, using the previously developed techniques. State variables must be acquired on real time by an intelligent pre-processor. In turn, the aerobic and anaerobic process controller are supervised by an expert system, where the knowledge base has been created by classical and automatic rule generation processes. The supervisory system would be implemented in treatment plants already-built as
