Description
A detergent is anything that behaves as a clearing agent. The chemical formulation of a detergent involves numerous compounds that can be classified into three general categories: surfactants, additives and miscellaneous. The surfactants are compleix organic compounds, which present a surface activity. This is due to their particular molecular structure, which consists of a hydrophobic and a hydrophilic part. These characteristics find a great number of applications, being their applicance as detergent component in urban and industrial fields the most important one. After their use, the surfactants are expelled as untreated municipal and industrial wastes to natural water reservoirs. A first objetives of this project are; the design, optimisation and evaluation of ion-selective electrodes to nonionic surgactants. These sensors will be integrated in flow injection systems, which will allow the design and construction of the automated analyser.
