Project Details
Description
This project aims to design a robust legal framework for Artificial Intelligence (AI) governance that ensures algorithmic transparency, accountability, and effective protection of fundamental rights. The rapid digital transformation creates regulatory challenges that affect not only individual rights but also the competitive position of Member States within the global economy. Law becomes a strategic driver of competitiveness: regulatory models that successfully balance technological innovation with legal safeguards will attract investment, talent, and development, while overly rigid or insufficient regulations risk generating economic and social disadvantages. This tension requires solutions that preserve human dignity without slowing technological progress. The research focuses on the interaction between the EU AI Act and national legal systems across multidisciplinary domains, including tax, commercial, civil, labor law, legal philosophy, and private international law. It addresses critical risks such as bias, opacity, and lack of explainability, proposing multi- layered transparency standards and audit mechanisms to foster social trust and corporate responsibility. The project will develop compliance guidelines aligned with EU and national regulations, considering individuals in their roles as citizens, consumers, workers, and entrepreneurs. Additionally, it will assess the impact of the forthcoming Digital Omnibus Regulation and its role in regulatory simplification. The ultimate goal is to deliver solid legal criteria for ethical and competitive AI governancecapable of guaranteeing fundamental rights while strengthening the strategic position of Member States in the digital economy.
