Project Details
Description
The cardiorespiratory system and its modulation will be studied in a teleost, "Sparus aurata", under hypoxia or moderate exercise conditions. Heart rate, cardiac output, ventilation frequency, blood pressure and plasmatic catecholamines will be determined. Signal variability using spectral analysis techniques will also be studied. Heart rate variability signal is specially emphasized due to its diagnostic value to quantify simpathetic and parasympathetic tone. Finally, a coupling mechanism between cardiovascular and respiratory systems will be investigated trying to correlate both variability signals.
