Description
The aim of this work is the synthesis and study of new transition metal complexes with functionalised ligands. These ligands are designed to furnish particular properties to the metal complexes, and can be classified as hemilabiles and amphiphilics. Planned ligands were synthessised in previous work and they can be phosphine-ether, phosphine-sulphonate, pyrazole-amine, pyrazole-phosphine, pyrazole-ether, pyrazole-thioether and pyrazole-pyridine. Some of these ligands contain hydrophilic and hydrophobic groups in the same molecule and they can lead to metal complexes with the properties of a surfactant. The hemilabile properties of the metal complexes will be studied in substitution reactions by the usual spectroscopic methods and the amphiphilic properties by means of surface tension measurements and electron microscopy. Possible applications of these complexes can be classified in the following fields:
a) antitumorals.- The antitumorals properties of selected Pt(II) complexes with functionalised ligands will be studied by means of in vitro and in vivo techniques.
b) radiopharmaceuticals.- Rhenium amnd 99m-technetium complexes with the functionalised ligands will be synthesized and characterised. The biodistribution properties of the 99m-technetium complexes will be studied in order to evaluate their potential use as radiopharmaceuticals.
c) catalysis.- Hydroformylation studies of Rh(i) complexes with functionalised ligands will be performed.
