Description
The International Masters in Children¿s Literature, Media & Culture (IM CLMC) is a 2y master, delivered by the University of Glasgow (UoG)- Scotland, the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB)- Spain, Aarhus University (AU)¿ Denmark, the University of Tilburg (TiU)- Netherlands & the University of Wroclaw (UW)- Poland. Students graduate with a joint or multiple degree, depending on the combination of degree-awarding partners. Credit-bearing work placements with a relevant organisation in Semester 3 present students with practical experiences to complement academic studies. There is also a Summer School option offered by the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver (Canada).
CLMC is unique & profoundly multi-disciplinary, drawing on literature, education, childhood studies, film & media studies (including digital) & informed by historical & cultural perspectives. Children & texts are at the core of the programme & the pillars of expertise behind the CLMC curriculum create a strong platform for an integrated approach that reflects current theory & research as well as current challenges & controversies. CLMC is articulated around both the analysis of a range of children¿s & young adult texts (e.g. picturebooks, life writing, cross-over texts, fan fiction, multicultural texts, films, digital apps) & the acquiring of skills involved in working practically with this literature (e.g. translation, writing, reviewing, editing & developing literacy practices in a wide range of cultural contexts).
