Description

This study try to analyse two relatively isolated mountainous Caucasoid populations wihch belong to two different geographic areas: Andorran population (Central Pyrenees) and Berber population (High Atlas). Due to their geographic location in enclosed valleys suurrended by high mountains, anyway their historical an social past, these populations could be affected by endogamous phenomenons and/or genetic drift. Because of this, we hope to characterize these closed groups and to compair their genetic structure. First of all, mtDNA of the two populations will be analysed using the RFLPs haplogroups variability. In relation to nuclear DNA, platelet and granulocite antigenes polymorphisms and the RFLPs of the CH locus of IgG will be typified. Starting for these data, both populations will be included in the Mediterranean context and in the subsaharian one for the Berber population, particulary.
