High Tc superconductors have relatively low critical current densities for most of their applications like tunnel devices. In this proposal, it is intended, first, to produce reproducible superconductive thin films of the highest quality by IBS (subproposal 2), and second, to investigate and characterize their electrical behaviour and their magnetic properties by means of measurements of resistivity, critical current density and a.c. susceptibility both in as-obtained films as well as in improved-post-treated-samples, with the aim of achieving the highest densities. The thermoelectric and thermomagnetic effects will also be studied in order to determine the pinning potentials.
