    Description

    The carob crop is founded in open regression at international level which questionate its continuity at half-term. The economic interest of carob has been increased for the high demand of carob bean gum as thickening and stabilizating additives of foods. This project have as fundamental objectives to characterize the existing plant material, in the areas where the crop intensity are greatest, in accordance with its phenology approach and the utilization of its byproducts, particularly the "carob bean kibbles" (used in animal nutrition and in human nutrition substitutes) and the "carob bean gum" (derived from the seed endosperm), and also to study the basic aspects of its biology and culture, about which there are few information at international level
