Aritmètica de varietats sobre cossos finits

The project contains two main aims: to study abelian subvarieties of symetric products of curves over finite fields and to construct the intermediate jacobians of certain varieties defined over local fields and over finite fields. As an application we want to determine explicitely the intermediate jacobians of symmetric products of curves over finite fields. Also, some applications to the concrete case of modular curves is to be expected.
