Arithmetic properties of modular curves have been used in an essential way in the latest most important result in Number Theory. In this context, our aim is to contribute to three concrete topics: points of the curve X1(p) over cubic fields; scheme of connected components of the Néron model of the jacobian of the modular curves Xo(N) and X1(N); relationship between the L-series of a Shimura curve and the formal completion of the Néron model of its jacobian.
