Description

In this present project we propose the study of new materials to improve the enzymatic biosensors by incorporating with in the device other chemical species that normally are in the solution-there by creating a "compact" biosensor-. Such a device is important for amperometric biosensors specially those which involve dehydrogenases as they also required a cofactor NADH and frequently a redox mediator. The development of an amperometric biosensor for detection of ammonium ions is being proposed with the intention of using them in a system for monitoring of heavy metal-by inhibiting the enzyme urease-. Additionally, we will study and develop "compact" biosensors-that do not need any added reagent-in order to measure enzyme activity of enzymes in the solution. These proposed biosensors will be constructed in a planar configuration with the intention of application to real samples of environmental or alimentary interest
