Description

This study is based on the application of a geostatistical technique, cokriging, as a method to obtain reliable information of the hydrogeological properties of aquifers. In particular, electrical resistivity, salinity and transmissivity data are combined to create a detailed map of transmissivities which may then be used in hydrogeological models. Our purpose is to test such technique in an unconfined, coastal aquifer, which has water salinization problems. In contrast with other published research, we propose using chemical data as a variable as well, with the aim to consider its effect on the electrical resistivity, when the resistivity is used to estimate transmissivities. In that way, we also seek to investigate the relationship between aquifer salinity, electrical resistivity and transmissivity using multivariate analysis (factor analysis).
